206cc sump plug stuck! Help please

Post by Salter »

Hi

Just tried to replace the oil and the sump plug is stuck, the inside looks like the square drive but is round off.

I've just tried to undo the outer using a 21mm socket but its slightly too big and starting to round that off too.

Any tips on what else I could try ?

I've left the plug soaking in wd40....

Thanks

The usual trick is to weld a steel bar end to the plug. If the bar is long enough, you should be able to start it moving by hand, but there's always the steel mallet. Buy a new plug (and washer) first!

Cheers for the help!

When I brought the washer for the sump I asked for a plug and Peugeot said "no need for the plug, we've never had to change one!" I knew as soon as they said that I'd have trouble, have got the plug now.

The plug is completely rounded, the inside and outside, will take to a garage see if they can weld something on.

I can't believe how tight the plug is, there's just no movement on it....
