here's a warning to all - watch out when you buy any car not to take for granted the manufacturers warranty. We bought a 206cc in May that was registered in March 2003. The service history was there - first service September 2003 etc etc - and all seemed well. We bought it from Carcraft (should have thought on, eh?) and took out the extended warranty for the hydraulics etc etc.

Anyway.. we have a problem with the boot - the lid is heavy and won't stay up when we open it (reckon something hydraulic has gone wrong), phoned Carcraft who advised going to a dealer as it'll be covered. Dealer checks on his database and there's no record. I quote him the chassis number and it's been imported from Spain. So it's not covered by the Peugeot 3 year warranty - only two - and of course it has run out. Surprise surprise but the warranty company are trying to say that we aren't covered by their expensive warranty either. So it's off for a £65 diagnostic test and then goodness only knows.

So check out where your car has been produced if you buy nearly new. When we pointed out to Carcraft that they had a duty of care to tell us that the car wasn't made in the UK, they told us that "it says in your invoice that the car may be manufactured in the UK or abroad".

I can see a battle with trading standards and the likes ahead. Ho hum! ;o(
