Functions of wires on radio 12V plug?

Post by Spitfire6 »

Hi,
I have 7 wires on my OEM radio plug.

I have eight if you count the extra connector.

I know which is Battery, Ignition & ground.
What are the other five? I'm guessing Illumination is one of them and somewhere is a form of SWC.
What is the OEM stalk control?
Cheers,
Iain.

The SEDRE only shows 6 wires in use. The three other than those you mentioned are another fused (F15) power lead on pin 4 (wire No XE4 (may be lights)) and two databus leads on pins 2 and 3 (wire Nos 9004 and 9005) (I assume the car is multiplexed). The remote commands will, I expect, be passed via the databus. Maybe an aftermarket radio cannot be controlled with the car's stalk?

For a diagram of the pins, see the section on fitting audio equipment under Practical Information in the Owners Manual.
