2.0 16v - Fault codes advice please, p0341,p0138, p0410

Post by Salter »

Hi

Please could someone help.

A few weeks after a service, the car became rough on start up but would be ok once running (seems a common problem on posts).

No faults were showing on the display though so put up with it.

Antipollution fault has recently appeared on the display.

I've bought a cheap car reader today and 4 codes showing.

1 - p0341, could only find 2 posts on search which indicate cam position sensor.
2 - p0138, can't find any posts, the code reader booklet says the fault 02 sensor high
3 - p0410, can't find any posts, the booklet says secondary air injection malfunction
4 - is a pending fault, but it's p0341 again.

Any idea's what could be wrong ?

Also should mention airbag warning is showing but if you wiggle the wires under the seat it turns off, this also removes the antipollution fault, the rough starts were still happening though.

Thanks in advance.

More details of car would help.

Generic code readers don't always work on Peugeots ...

Hi

It's a 56 plate 2.0 16v cc, it's done around 53k miles.

Thanks

It would be best to put Peugeot Planet 2000 on it and get some live data readings.

Ok cheers for comments.

Started the car yesterday after reading the codes and airbag and antipollution faults had disappeared from the display!

Car was still rough on start up but was fine after that.

I'm guessing the faults will come back at some stage....

This could be a result of low voltage from the battery. Peugeots are very sensitive to that, and can throw up a variety of spurious fault indications, especially when the starter is operated, as the starting load creates a large volt-drop. It could also result in some spurious data to the engine ECU, which might give rise to short-term rough running.

Perhaps you should get the battery discharge-tested? Two-minute job at a car battery shop.

That first code is usually coil pack. (although crank sensor could also cause this) Try changing coil pack first
You may well find other codes clear also

Hi

Just a quick update. Thanks for the help so far.

Already changed the coilpack so put a new cam position sensor in that has cured the rough start, feels like a completely different car now.

Still getting anti pollution error and codes p0341 and p0138.

Next stop is changing the lambda sensor, I'm going to change the pre-cat one, had a quick look and the sensor is difficult to get to.

Cheers
