It's time consuming and fiddly.
A couple of things to consider
#1 Tracking will need checking afterwards
#2 Power steering system will need flushing for guarantee to be valid
#3 Steering angle sensor may need recalibrating if fitted
Cheers Col.

Thanks for that
Forgot about item 3, but not sure if it's fitted to mine
Tracking - yes goes without saying
Flushing - think it's been done with the amount that I've put in to date :big-grin: but would drain off anyway.
Got plenty of time to do it in as 2nd car and tried "I need my car fixing" site and got one response from a tyre place some 15-20 miles away who wanted to see the car first before committing and costing to do it.
Need to go round a few very local garages before I commit myself to doing it.
Does the front subframe have to be removed ??

Go to http://www.peugeot206cc.co.uk/repair-206/ > mechanical > steering > steering rack > removal-refitting of the steering mechanism
and it will show you how.
Cheers Col.

Went there and printed it off already :)
Got it booked in at a very local garage to me on the 28th as decided that I really thought that it will be easier for them to do it than for me to try and do it in the street for the labour cost involved (£100/120) plus the part that I'm supplying and tracking @ about £15
Chickened out really - I'm not as young as I used to be
Thanks for you guidance and I look forward driving the old girl again

No, not bad at all. Like you I'm getting too old to want to be working under the car these days. Still do a bit but that sounds to me like £150 well spent.
