Boot Lock jamming

Post by PaulTyrer »

I have an issue with the boot solenoid jamming. Occasionally I cannot turn the key to the right to unlock the boot. I took off the trim and discovered that the ram in the solenoid (which is working) can be pulled out and pushed in buy will occasionally jam when being manually pushed in (to unlock)

I have removed the metal link from the lock mechanism to the solenoid so now I have to manually lock the boot lid but at least I can open it without snapping the key!
Is it the solenoid at fault or is this a common issue?
Will a new solenoid fix it or do I just bang a load of lithium grease down the solenoid ram which is the square black plastic type

Ant comments gratefully received!

I found that the metal rod could also slip out of the levers and jam so had to rebend it slightly to prevent that from happening. Some sort of clip to keep it in place would not have been a bad idea. Once the plastic hole in the lever gets worn it can jump out more often too.
