On-topic only please so we can take to Peugeot if necessary.

Who has had the problem with squealing brakes? Please answer below, following this format:

1. How long before the problem appeared?
2. Did the dealer attempt to fix the problem?
3. If so, what did they do?
4. Did it work?
5. What make were/are the squeaky pads (Citroen or Pug, or other)?

1. Squeal started within 2 months. less than 3000 miles.

2. Dealer attempted to fix the problem, only after I pursuaded them that the work was VERY necessary. Even though peugeot admitted they shouldn't have charged me for the problem after I complained I was still charged.

3. They 'De-lazed' (?) the brake discs.

4. Only 'temporarily' the brakes squealed as I pulled into my garage after the 3 mile journey home. For the next 3 weeks the squeal came and went with no pattern and then after that remained constant with every brake application. Particularly loud at slower speeds. Strangely.

1. 200-400 miles
2. yes 3 times
3. stripped and cleaned
4. 1st time yes for few 500 miles, 2nd time im not convinced they did a thing to fix it, 3rd time they do not squeek but ive only done 30 miles and theyve refused to fix them again! not happy, ringing pug!

also they have failed to fix my clunking noise, which I think is alot more serious than squeeky brakes.

Yes,

1. After about 500km's
2. yes - they cambered the brake pads / discs (not sure)
3. so far so good all is quiet and car stops better as well

Apparently problem relates to the fact that they no longer use asbestos in the brake pads (so PUG Australia say)

Cheers

1. After about 6 months
2. Went in to the garage for new brake pads but the squeaking came back after a couple of days

Was told it is a problem common to 206 CC's!!!!

How do we remedy it? I get told that it sounds like a bus pulling up on our drive!!!!!
