Well I have made it to scotland, and - touch wood- the car has performed seamlessly, so far I have done 2350 miles and the car has returned 35.9 mpg, which for a 2 litre makes me a very happy bunny. I have seen quite a few cc's on the way, and had quite a few waves....what a friendly lot you all are.
I start the drive back on Monday, so hopefully everything will go as smoothly. The thing that has astonished me the most is how comfortable the car is. On one day i did a 10 hour drive (from Biarritz to Nancy to see friends) and not a complaint from my back.....I am so impressed.

Excellent news Alan. That fuel consumption is good, shows the benefit of lots of steady 5th gear running. I'm so pleased that the car is running well for you. Safe journey.
