Brake lines - replacement advice please

Post by ianP »

Hi all,

Does anyone have any advice for me when replacing the steel brake lines under the car please?

As Servicebox is no longer available I cant even get an idea from there and I can't see anything useful on a Google search.

I guess the main question, as I can't be bothered to look for myself , is " how far do they go at the front? Can I "easily" access/remove them from underneath without having to take the entire front end to bits?

Thanks all

Brake lines are never usually that easy as they tend to run up behind the engine/gearbox and between parts that don't normally come off that easy. They have to reach the master cylinders, abs, etc .. and don't normally have a convenient joint as they are fitted at the factory before therest of the running gear ...

Cheers Gazza - didn't manage to have a look this weekend but if they look very buried up front I might refresh the centre and rear sections by putting a joint in.
