Derek,
Letter arrived from the Head of Sales at my local dealership, it was as they had promised and confimed the 4/12wk deal. The problem we now seem to be having is actually getting the car back from them. They have had it nearly two weeks this time and everytime they say it's fixed they then ring and say they are still running tests. They are obviously not convinced the problem has gone for good, it is however due back this afternoon at about 3pm. Hopefully dry and polished. Having looked at the weather forecast it now appears that there is no rain on the horizon so i will have to wait to see what happens. Will keep you updated. Oh by the way, when we asked exactly what they had done they said they had used some sort of sealant. This sounds familiar and based on everybody elses results using this method i am sure the car will be back in again shortly.
Caro.
BAD NEWS
The car is back!!!!!! The sun is shining and the sky is blue (and i'm not about to break into song, more like tears), opened the drivers side door to look at the seal and guess what -ITS DRIPPING WATER - totally unbelievable. Well i'm going to enjoy the sun today as i fear that my beloved 206 is about to go back to the dealer for good. I have to be honest and say that even though they left a bottle of cheap red wine (and i don't drink) on the passenger seat, i don't think my better half is going to let me have a pug. The choice is between an SLK and a Z3 now, no where near as pretty but hopefully i wont get a wet back side everytime i sit on the drivers seat.
Sorry to hear that Caro. Like you my girlfriend and I debaited the Z3, SLK and TT but the Pug SE won our hearts through sheer good looks and practibility - shame about the build quality though.
I could never part with my Pug even if I wanted to as my girlfriend would probably shoot me for even suggesting such a thing (justifiable homicide I think the americans call it).
I'm not surprised the dealership came all over hazy when you asked them about their policy on returns. Even so, it might be worth fighting for since other members seem to have had the most success returning vehicles where dealerships were unable to fix problems after numerous attempts.
