Who can define what kind of leaks that are acceptable?

Is leaking when using a presure hose aiming directly at the windows acceptable?
Is leaking when driving car into jetwashes acceptable?
Is leaking when using non-presure hose aiming directly at the windows acceptable?

I thought I had a car that was not leaking until I tried some of the above...
So is there any cars out there that can do all of the above without taking in water through the windows?
And can we demand that the car should be able to go through jetwashes wihout any leaks?

i think to expect to spray water directly at the window seals and not have any leaks is being a bit on the optimistic side.

before my rejected CC started leaking i used to use a car wash that uses pressure hoses.

i did see odd drips of water coming in but nothing major. i also regarded it to be acceptable due to the water pressure and design of the car, e.g. frameless windows.

what i term acceptable is any water that gets in by natural means - namely caused by the weather only, or by spray whilst driving.

If you wash your car and you get more than an odd drip then this is also unacceptable.

But the weather is a good rule of thumb

Speaking to my dealer (who fixed my leak!!) I think jet pressure washer caused leaks don't count, he said if you aim a jet wash at any convertible seal the water will get in. It also doesn't simulate rain water so they didn't use it to test the waterproofness (ok, I know that's not a word!) of cars, they used a hose as it was a better approximation to rain water. Not sure about a car wash, but what are you doing taking it through a car wash anyway?!

Hi Rachel, If Bjorn uses a jet wash with no nasty brushes to scratch the paintwork - I'm sure Bjorn will be forgiven?

And yes, mine leaked a few drips of water when I used a jet wash once, but as mentioned, I didn't think it enough to cause a real problem in itself (and my previous cars did the same).

Can't see cars ever being made totally water resistent unless they make cars completely repellant to the jet wash equivelant of a hurricane plus centered on a piece of rubber sealent (surely not akin to UK weather- even by today's standards) or perhaps water tight like submarines (OK- I know we don't ask our cc's to dive under 200 fathoms of water, but I'm sure you get my drift).

I agree that it's not acceptable to have any water ingestation in a car, however, to have zero in some circumstances may also not be realistic. I suppose at the end of the day, what I'm trying to say is that I think you are right Bjorn, you have to decide yourself what is reasonable and in what circumstances, using the trusty rule of commonsense (and take no c**p from the dealer).

p evs, I have to admit I'm afraid of water if it ruins my leather seats.

Don't know if anyone else has heard this but my dealer (who still can't fix my leak after 7 attempts) rang up Peugeot HQ to find out what to do about my leak, as I expressed my displeasure, were told that in extreme conditions the CC will leak.

Living in sunny England, I'm a bit displeased about this, and really if they knew the cars would leak, why are they still selling them??

Don't get me wrong, I love the car. It's perfect and the sunshine makes it all worth while. I just hate the pesky leak!!!!

7 attempts to fix ???

i think your dealer couldn't care less. my dealer was given the chance to fix my minor leak, made it worse so got it for a final attempt which failed and car was rejected.

you didn't buy a water fountain so why drive one ?

Wonder if anyone has experienced the same leak problems as me?

In heavy rain, when you open the doors (as you inevitably do to get in an out of the car) water runs into the car in rivulets and collects in puddles on my lovely red leather.

Cleary a design fault.

This in addition to a water leak which has been unrepared for 3 months and 3 attempts by the dealer. Plus numerous other faults including dodgy brake pads so the car is now off the road cos its unsafe to drive!! Just when the sun is shining!

I'm currently in a battle with Peugeot and the dealer cos I want my money back! But neither will accept any responsibility for it!

Would be pleased to hear others experiences of rejecting vehicles - did they give you a new car or have you got the money back so you can actually buy something which is fit to be driven in the UK climate???!!!

i rejected mine in february. got a replacement for £300 but was offered a full cash refund as well.

note - all financed by the dealer, not the monkeys.

Vicki, I have on a few occasions had a puddle collect on the drivers seat (and it's definitely not me!) when I opened the door during rain.

The rain flowed off the roof straight onto the driver's seat (after drying the seat I found the water had dulled the red leather).

I also get the obligitory drips of water that come down on your sleeve/leg from the top of the door where the rubber seals meet (usually after rain when starting off to go somewhere).

These problems are so annoying! After driving top down in sunshine this week, I've put them to the back of my mind until the six month service shortly.
