Hi again.
I've had my car a few months now (4 I think) and thought I would share some good and bad points I've found out about it.
On the whole I would say there mostly good points.
Reliability wise it hasn't missed a beat as my daily driver.Even in the very cold weather it's started up with no fuss or dramas. The heater warms it up in no time at all ,and it runs nice and smoothly even from stone cold..
Fuel economy seems to average between 39 to 40 mpg and if I give a good long run I can get around 43.
I'm going to change the oil every 5k which is rapidly approaching (over the top maybe) but I am shall we say OCD.
I was pleasantly surprised at how cheap serviceable items are too.
For example I've just bought a good branded air and pollen filter for less the £12.
For this kind of pitence it's well worth changing them at the same time.
I have found a niggle that irritates me in that the windscreen demister is truly awful.
It takes an age to clear away early morning moisture off the windscreen.Theres no leaks or dampness I can find in the car to cause this but it's nether the less a pain to get the windscreen to clear.
I have however noticed theres some sort of unidentifiable coating on the inside of the windscreen that's adding to the problem.
This weekend I will treat it to some form of anti misting product to see if will help.
The other minor problem I've come across was a bad earth on the rear light.
Using the left indicator resulted in the rear light dimming.
A quick clean up of the connectors and bulb fittings with some electrical contact cleaner soon put that problem to bed.
Handling in the snow last week was quite interesting to compared to my heavy Rover 75.
It felt quite sketchy, and I really had to take my time and drive very courteously in it
On a positive note I initially thought the small car could potentially be to small for me.
After all it's only really a two seater practically ,but I've had no issues with space, and boot is surprisingly bigger than you think when the roof is not folded.
The radio is quite punchy but the reception is nowhere near as good as the 75 here in Wales.
As the car is low mileage and immaculate, and that I like to keep cars for a long time I'm looking into getting a stainless steel exhaust (any recommendations greatly appreciated).
Apart from that I'm trying to resist jazzing it up with all the mods and add ons that are available.
You never know, it may one day become a classic as they are now a rare sight on our roads.
Anyway I'm typing this out after a bottle of wine so my oppologise if my spelling and punctuation is a bit hit and miss.
All the very best,
Johnnyb60
