Roof Lid not opening, HELP

Post by mutevibes »

Hey everyone,

Just bought a 2003 206cc 1.6 a few days ago, and the ad listed that the roof wasn't working. Since it's winter, I figured I had a while to get it working before the warm/ dry weather in The Netherlands will start, since I'm a diagnostics-mechanic.

My dad also had a 206cc, so I know how the roof should operate on the basic user side.
His advise was to keep the engine idle so it won't drain the battery too quickly.

What I've done already:
- unfolded the shelf in the trunk, contact looks clean and clicks like a relay/switch once.
- unlatch the locks inside, spray them with a bit of WD40 since they squeeked a bit.
- hold the button in the centre, all windows go down smooth, no weird delays.
- listening for a motor to "bzzzzt"

- checked the white latches and they are in auto-operating "mode"

problem:

- the roof-lid is not opening.
- the motor keeps buzzing as I hold the button
- multiple beeps in the car

As I release the button, and put the windows up again and go for a drive, the car beeps like the roof is half-open.

in the trunk I noticed the white-latches not fully locking on the lid again. (even though I press the button for it to close again. )

my question for you guys is mainly.
What could I check, and what is the cars check-sequence for opening the roof.
like going to microswitch 1, to #2 to hook.. I have no idea what I'm working on in this case.

kind regards,
Chris

The problem could be the hydraulics. Maybe there is insufficient fluid in the system, or the pump is not functioning correctly. I suggest you study the material in the Peugeot Service Box. There are some incomplete and awkwardly indexed extracts in the Repair Guide section of this board. The complete thing is pay-to-view, or you can get a disk/USB stick or download on EBay to install on a PC which must support a virtual machine.

At first, thanks for the reply!

I tried a bit more. and it seems like the lid just is not opening, maybe it could be the physical cables?
I also hear some "burbling" in the pump-area, so maybe there is an airlock or so, is this bleedable?

the fluid level on the pump seems to be fine. about 3/4 between min/max lines.
The servicebox seems like a nice way to understand more about it. where could I get it? I know my way around VirtualMachines so that may work for the knowledge part.

I also found out that the rear-driverside window doesn't go up like it should. it stops half way because it seems to be stuck between the weatherseal. a bit of manual help, and it goes up like it should.

Get the service box on Ebay. Just search for Peugeot Service Box - the first one listed at £10.90 looks good if you want a download. Otherwise pay more for a stick or a disk.

Try a little silicone grease on the inside edges of the window seal - worked for me.

I got some progress.

I found a 206cc parting out on marketplace. and for about 70euros I got another pump (with video for working proof) and a new control module, just in case.

I just fitted them, and the lid started rising. bit of noise, like some air needs to get out.
after that it beeps 5 times and stops working. the roof stays on the car and doesn't try to open.

-edit:
The parcelshelf, just behind the rear bench is not completely in it's position on the left side. while driving it taps up and down. Is there another microswitch under there, preventing the roof from opening?
- end edit

is there a way to bleed the system? I think there is some air in the lines since I swapped the lines over to the other pump.

The window seems to work better now, i washed my car yesterday, used a bit of silicone on the seals, and it goes up without needing for help.

To answer your questions best, you really need Service Box.
