So is it the tyres causing the problem with full lock turning then?? I have to say mine has done it for a while too and it's quite worrying when it happens! ...I usually experience it went reversing on full lock, feels like the car is skidding/jumping so I have to go very slowly if I use full lock. However, it did it the other day when going round a left turn at moderate speed but quite sharp... it made me feel a bit like

Hey all newbie here.
I need your help, my 05 206 Quiksilver, makes a strange noise (front of car) when it gets up to about 25mph a bit like something in the spokes on a bike. It disappears when I turn the steering wheel to the right slightly, but as it straightens up the drone comes back.
My partner who is very good with cars has had it jacked up today, wheels off, to check the CV joints, as its only done 36000 it shouldnt be them already... should it? He cant see anything wrong with the CV joints, and also things wheel bearings are ok as he has pushed and pulled the wheels about. Whilst its on a jack we cant make it do the noise. The noise is speed related as it speeds up on acceleration and when taking foot off accelerator or breaking it slows down. Any ideas what this could be? any tests we can do to check the cv joints (he has been doing u turns and no noise has been made) or wheel bearings?
Any advice is great
Thanks
Kate

Does the noise come from a particular side at the front? Right hand side perhaps?
Has a CV joint boot split?
Have you checked your tyres for stones etc. embedded in the tread?
Have you checked brake disc and pads for any foreign bodies?
They're the sort of areas I'd be looking at.

Update on this issue:- 26/07/09 from the time I took off the eagle F1 tyres and replaced them with other make of tyre, we have not had any issues of scrubbing, poor handling, noise or anything else, the car has remained like it has been given a new steering and suspension system. DITCH THE EAGLE F1 TYRES ON THE FRONT OF THE CAR, YOU WON'T REGRET IT.Eeyore wrote:Eagle F1 tyres on the front wheels binding up on daughters car, made the car very unstable when going over manhole covers or uneven roads, many a technician suggested what it may be but none has sorted it, the car also sounded like the tyres were being scrubbed off the rims whenever going around tght corners, put two new £40 tyres on and car drives like new:)
