I am happy to say that for the first time in over a week the sun is shining and I have managed to drive home with my top off! :hyper:

I had the CD on and was playing some of my favourite tracks and this gave me an idea for another thread.

So, what music do you guys listen to when driving with the top down?

Lady Gaga has been looping in my car, am just getting some tunes together on my memory stick.
Saw Eliza Dolittle on THIS MORNING and they describded her new track as a "top off your car track" so will give it a whirl when I get my tyre sorted 'Pack Up' its called.

Although all this bad weather people been complaining of is new to me, here on the Essex coast it has been sunny and warm since the heatwave we had, we have had light rain at night and sun in the day, saw on ITV lunchtime news July been wettest this year but places like the northwest are having a drought :/ :D

What music you been playing Thar?

usually got my i-pod on with a very eclectic mix, Sex Pistols to Frank Sinatra!! but nothing better than a bit of Ska (The Beat, Specials, Skadows etc)....BUT BEWARE!!
Dropped youngest son (15) at his local meeting point with his mates all there, nice day roof off, pulled up....just as YMCA came on the i-pod..he nearly died of shame! :yikes::rotfl:

Every now and again I put a CD together of some of my favourite music. The one I am listening to at the minute has some new, some old, some rocky, some slow. It's got The Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, Journey (but not the one off the TV), Modjo, to name but a few, and some 80's which is my favourite era.

Possibly my favourite Summer driving track though is The Boys Of Summer by Don Henley. I also love listening to Bob Marley when I'm out on a sunny day as it makes me think of holidays.

Which is...? :P

You have the opposite problem to us don't you, in that you spend a lot of the time with the roof on as it's too hot ...not wet, or cold...to take it off. Being here in the UK we can only dream of being in that situation.

Which is a very wide and constantly changing range of stuff - but right this minute I have Jason Derulo, Eric Prydz, Cher and Adam Lambert on in there. I've had t.A.T.u., Lady GaGa, Madonna, ABBA, B.o.B, The Guru Josh Project, Global Deejays feat. Rozalla, and of course Kevin Rudolf and I still play a few of his songs in there now when in the mood, wow I could be listing here all day :P

Yes, I certainly do - trust me, once the temperature is anything over 27 in full sun and 30 in overcast weather, it's just too hot! And that's most of summer! Mind you, there is nothing, NOTHING quite like a beautiful 28 degree summer night, cruising roofless under 10 billion stars through the moonlit valleys (we apparently have more stars down here and believe me when I say on a clear night............ it's breathtaking). You need to come to Aus and rent a convertible simply for that! (or drop me a line, take mine for a spin :P)

I've walked back to the car from a day in town once, beautiful bright clear sky but kept it sealed up - 36 degrees with 90% humidity! All you want is that icy aircon blasting! Ever got out of the car sweating? That happened to me earlier in the week when it got to 27 degrees. I'm in the CC right now actually and temperature is.....20 degrees but it feels very cold, is that me just used to 30+ temperatures???

When you all say you play tracks from your ipod, how do you do this? Do you have the standard Clarion CD/radio or have you fitted your own system.

I still have the Clarion so have to resort to burning CD's of my fave tracks. I have seen this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT on Ebay which would allow me to play from my MP3, memory stick etc., but am not sure if it will be suitable. It says 206cc 2004 > and mine was registered Nov 03 (53) although from what I have read here http://www.wisebuyers.co.uk/motoring/ca ... /PE003395/ it seems mine may be classed as a 2004 model???

I used my ipod all the time in my fiat punto, but found in the CC' the windscreen seems smaller. I never have my mobile in a holder as I find all that stuff unsightly, when I'm in the car my phone is off (end of)... But with my sat nav on the windsreen my ipod just seemed to take up more room, same as with dangly air freshners blocking my view. Anyhow my point is my after market stereo also has a USB cable which allows me to pop in a memory stick with tons of songs on and this is tucked nicely under the glove box, out of sight :D

I just made a playlist especially for roof off. I agree I can listen to the same stuff with roof on, but I find I can listen to more mellow stuff with roof on and love high powered cheesy pop, R&B or Rock with roof OFF :D

9-5 Remix - Dolly Parton
Pack Up - Eliza Dolittle
Alejandro - Lady gaga
You Know Me - Robbie Williams
Monster - Lady gaga
Me & Mr jones - Amy Winehouse
We Can Work it Out - Olly Murs (Orig Tina Turner)
Million Dollar Bill - Whitney Houston
Grace Kelly - Mika
Fire with Fire - Scissor Sisters
Dont Stop Movin - S Club 7 :D
About a Girl - Sugababes
You've got the Love - Florence & the Machine
What You Waiting For - Gwen Stefani
Stop - Spice Girls :o :D
Spice Up Your Life - Spice Girls
Reach - S Club 7
Never Forget You - Noisettes
The Musics No Good Without You - Cher
Love Machine - Girls Aloud
Love Aint Gunna Wait For You - S Club 7
Lift Me Up - Geri Halliwell (dont know how that got in there)
Jump - Pointer Sisters
I begin to Wonder - Dannii Minogue
Feels so Good - Sonique
Alive Again - Cher
Alfie - Lily Allen

I'm still working on this list :D

Thar, I use both an iPod, and a USB stick but mostly the USB stick. I do this using an adapter that plugs in to the cigarette lighter - they are FM radio transmitters and you tune your radio to them. iPods only work in specialised FM transmitters and they tend to be more expensive than a simple data transmitter that can only read USB sticks.

The data FM transmitter that reads USBs has a digital display, skip forward/back, play/pause and FM tuning buttons and works really well. I have a very cheap iPod FM transmitter - don't ever buy a cheap one! It crackles if the iPod moves - ie around bends, over bumps, basically when the car is moving because the plug that fits in to where the headphones go doesn't fit too well. It can be plugged in or run off battery power. Most iPod FM transmitters charge the iPod but the cheap ones don't - my iPod ran out of battery half-way down the road!

Yep I tried the tansmitter to radio for ipod a few years back, what a load of rubbigh it was, like you say crackles. Thats what made me buy a stereo with headphone jack and this plays my ipod brilliantly and charges at the same time.
With the ipod it got annoying when parking up having to, unplug the cable, take ipod out of holder, take mobile out of holder and take sat nav out of holder (if in use) everytime I made a journey, thats why I went for memory stick as I leave it plugged in as its under glove box, and glad I had it when I got the CC' as I mentioned earlier from my punto the windscreen seems smaller.

Another thing, I can not stand friends who drive and think they can shuffle through there ipod faffing around looking for an album or playlist and they very often get tooted or end up in the next lane :censored:

Thanks guys. If the Ebay adapter is a no go, will look into the USB transmitter thingy you mention.
