I am looking to buy a 206cc, probably the 1.6 model, but not yet decided whether manual or auto.
Can anyone please summarise stuff to beware of when looking at a 206cc?
I have been doing quite a bit of research and there do seem to be problems with leakings, roof not closing correctly and service indicator lights. Have the people I have heard about just been unlucky or are these the main problems?
I haven't seen a lot of positive stuff about this model really. I am relying on you lot to change that.

There is plenty of comment on the forum already if you use the search facility.
Buy the best and the newest you can afford. Read the manual front to back, as most problems seem to be self-inflicted. If there are any problems apparent, e.g. roof not working, strange clonks etc. - walk away.
I've never heard of service indicator lights being a problem.

I bought a 2003 (53) 1.6 from a Peugeot dealer in March 2008. Although the log book advised I would be the 4th owner, the car only had 17,000 on the clock, the bodywork was in good condition, as was the leather interior, the roof operation was without fault and there didn't appear to be any leaks, so I went for it.
I am not entirely sure what the cars previous history was, or whether it had been serviced regularly as the service manual appeared to belong to a different car. I had it serviced just after I put it back on the road in March this year and touch wood, it has been absolutely fine.
I would just advise you buy as young a model as possible with low mileage. Maybe I was lucky but I am very happy with my purchase.

It probably means I am a bit of an anorak, but I want to do loads of research before buying a car. Owned loads of different cars in the last 20 years or so but had a really bad experience with a Vauxhall lately and would never touch one of those again!

I like to think it all boils down to luck, we can never predict when 'we' are going to be ill and I believe its the same for cars.
Just be prepared/willing in the event
