Shaking when cold
I have recently bought a 206cc 52 plate and it has a problem when cold, it shakes violently and has even cut out once. The best way to describe it is it feels like you are about to stall. It has been in the garage and the diag says nothing, they have established it has a missfire but don't know why. Has anyone got any ideas?

Is it a 2 litre and is it OK when warmed up?

Re: Shaking when cold
Hi, thanks for the swift response. Yes it is exactly that, it's a wobble about 20 seconds after cold start then it calms down after a 2/3 min period. It cut out on me again this morning and the engine management light came back on so it's back to the garage for me!GrandadMonkey wrote:Is it a 2 litre and is it OK when warmed up?

I'd hazard a guess that it'll be the hydraulic tappets. There are plenty of posts on the subject if you do a few searches. The cost of replacing them will be in the region of £800. If the cambelt hasn't been renewed that'll need doing at the same time to save future expense.
Now you know why the previous owner got rid of it.
If you bought from a dealer take it back under the warranty.

I really appreciate your response, will speak to the garage I am using and see what they have think. I will also take your advice and do a few searches. Would love to take it back but I bought it from an independant dealer and got a basic used car warranty and to be frank the guy is totally useless and shouldn't be allowed to trade! Anyway, that's a different topic all together. Thanks again!GrandadMonkey wrote:I'd hazard a guess that it'll be the hydraulic tappets.
