How long should economy tyres last ? (roughly to the nearest 5 000)

How long's a piece of string?
So many variables such as driving style/ tyres maintained at correct pressure/ vehicle loading/ Journey type (town harder on tyres than Mway) etc:
To give you an example, I have seen FWD Transits go through a set of front tyres in under 10K with no obvious signs of abusive driving, but seen others with over 30K & still going strong with same make of tyre.
I know I'm talking of Fords here, but I use it as an example of first hard experiance to illustrate how differant wear rates can be.
