What - No England Reception?

If Ireland can do it why can't we.

Hey, so why no official reception arrangements for the fans to greet the England Team coming home?

There seemed plenty of fans out there at Heathrow that wanted to show their appreciation for coming in the last 8 of the World Cup.

Conspiracy theories:

Was it the FA snubbbing the England Team or its fans or both?

Was it no 10 Downing Street orchestrating events again like the Queen Mums funeral?

Was it that the England team didn't want to meet the fans?

Was it because there wern't enough Kevlar vests to go round?

We now hear on the news that it all OK cos the team are going to get an official reception at no. 10 Downing Street!

Well Horray for Blair and his cronies! Yet another chance to greet his idols an do a little more spin into the bargain, pity the ordinary fans don't get a chance to see their team face to face (for those that want to).

If 1 million Ireland fans can greet their team (approx 1 in 4 of the ENTIRE population of the Republic!!!!) surely the reception for the England team would have been something special (if anything had been organised). As much as i hate talking politics, i think you're spot on there Robbie...

Unfortunatly I think the difference is that Ireland gave everything they had in all their games and deserved the reception they got.

England on the other hand only played really well in two game against Argentina and Denmark and didn't look fit enough or want to win enough in their game against Brazil.

We should have done better but the players let us down (no blame to David Seamen, it was the other 10 players that didn't put in the effort not the keeper.) So all in all I don't see why they should have a heros welcome.

We will give them a heros welcome when they win the Euro Championships!!.

I also happen to disagree that we performed well against Denmark. They had far more posession, passes and forced us to defend for long periods, even after they were 3 nil down. 2 bad defensive errors from Denmark gave us 2 goals.
