What is that little button for?

Post by mikey63 »

Hi everyone. I have recently bought my first second hand 206 05 plate from a car dealer. They could not throw any light on what or why i had a little black button on the steering column casing, just behind the steering wheel. Is it a back up contingency for a function or instrumentation in the car that may work intermittently or not at all, i.e. a horn switch, glow plug back up etc. I am at a loss because of my basic knowledge of the car. This is not factory fitted button, this has been fitted at a later date. I am just worried it maybe a back up immobiliser that may compromise the factory fitted system. Can anyone help please. :?

I take it you are talking about an aftermarket attachment? In which case it could be anything.
If you are worried about it why not contact previous owner?
Cheers Col.

Yeah it is an aftermarket attachment. The model is a 206 2litre HDI Sport 2005 mileage is now 57k. I will check my V5 and see who the last keeper was. If I recollect he was Fareham Hants whereas I am on Gower near Swansea.

Haha that would be class! :rotfl:

Are there any chavvy lights underneath? People like to add those (heavens knows why) and the switch is to turn them off when you spot the cops..... imagine if you were driving around with those and didn't realise, the shame!! :P
