205/45R16 is the correct size .. and they should be 87XL rated too.

... probably find previous owner fitted the others 'cos they were cheaper. 45 profiles aren't the cheapest on the market but you can find some deals. We've got Hankook Evo 12s on the CC and they were £90 inc fitting and VAT. I won't fit budgets because it's my daughter's car and her safety is paramount. They are also remarkably good in the wet and on dry roads.

Get prices from blackcircles.com, mytyres.co.uk, etc and use this as a bargaining point with your local fitters, but avoid kwakfat ... and watch for special offers from the AA, etc ... they aren't any cheaper - in fact often more expensive. Blackcircles will also tell you which are the better wearing and the quieter tyres.

Make sure the tracking is correct at the front as you don't want to scrub the inner edges of those nice new tyres in a few months.

When I got my car it had 205 /50 /16 on the fronts and 205 /45 /16 on the rears.

It didn't cause any problems so I waited for the fronts to wear down and replaced them with the correct size of 205 /45 /16 - so now all the tyres are the same size.

I have to say now that they are the same size and I've driven thousands of miles on them I think it all feels a lot better - more sporty even.
