Radio is quiet

Post by han18 »

Had this problem since I got the car in Jan 2012.

Basically CD's are perfectly fine, but when I use the actual radio I have to have it on full sound 30 to be able to hear anything, and it's still quiet. There must be something wrong, some sort of setting. I have looked at it many times but can't work it out :( :?

I don't think it is my aerial because it picks up the station every time, it's not distorted in any way it is just really quiet.

Please help?

other than a faulty tuner in the radio, only other suggestion would be the attenuator setting, this mutes the radio when needed (eg phone call - not whilst driving of course) .
Have you a different head unit that you could temporarily try?

reset to factory settings (battery disconnect/ reconnect proceedure ) it's probably something to do with the automatic vehical volume speed settings if that option is enabled on the unit ( increases decreases with speed) worth a try.

Have you got the radio with the small digital screen built-in or does the station come up in the separate display unit? I'm asking as I have tried two of the older types of ebay and 206 owners and both weren't working properly.

I'd go down to Halfrauds and pick up one of their Sony units while they are selling them cheap. Built in usb and aux and players MP3 discs as well as normal ones.

We did on the CC and it's 110 times better than the original and if its the older type it a simple and cheap swap ... as long as you buy the adaptor surround from someone other that Halfrauds who charge rip-off prices for a piece of plastic. I think they wanted nearly £10 for something you can get for £3!
