Jerky boot opening and roof opening failure
Jerky boot opening and roof opening failure
My wife's 206cc boot lid often takes several attempts to open needing several restarts of the sequence, on these occasions this usually means that when the boot lid is open the whole roof opening procedure stops and manually closing the roof is needed. Having looked through this forum I think that the electrical valve is not opening fully on some occasions and therefore not permitting enough hydraulic pressure to open the boot lid, this hesitation in turn is slowing the procedure and the computer is timing out and stopping the opening procedure. On other occasions the whole process works fine. Does this explanation make sense and does anyone know a procedure to check that the electrical valve is faulty before spending out on a replacement when it my be something else causing the problem? Thanks for any help.

Feasibible I suppose, but much more likely that you've got a microswitch that isn't operating properly. Have a look for the sticky thread showing the location of all of the microswitches and give each of them a good workout so that you can hear them positively clicking every time. You may well find that it solves your issue without any further maintenance.

Hi
I have worked all the microswitches and they do all give a firm click, might be an idea I guess to unplug and test each with a circuit tester to make sure they are all making a good contact.

Check the pressure relief valve is nipped up, then check the cables aren't too loose.

Re: Jerky boot opening and roof opening failure
Without wanting to jump in , and certainly not an expert on roofs , but have a look at my post lower down. "boot lid opens, roof not rising, fixed . I found that the area around the roof rams was wet with oil ( which I initially assumed was ' maintainance') and that as a result of this leakage there wasn't enough oil in the tank to supply the pump, so it ran dry. The pump would then cut out. The aerated oil in the pump would just about generate enough pressure to open the boot, but not enough to lift or drop the heavy roof. Peel back the pump cover and check the oil level. Its a simple thing , but without oil to pump the rams the roof aint going nowhere. The process of checking and replenishing the oil is described in other posts.
