Hi all hope you can help.
I have a Peugeot 206 2004 1.4 and there has been a funny noise coming from the engine when I’m in 1st + 2nd, and today when I’m traveling along in 4th the speed will be about 35mph and the revs will be 2500 and revving high and will come straight back down. Any idea what could be a problem?
Regards
Ross

Re: Help needed 206
If it is a manual gearbox then the symptoms point to clutch slip. If so you need a new clutch by the sound of it. How many miles has the car done - 60,000 plus? What sort of use has it has - mainly urban use? Is the "bite point" on the clutch pedal particularly high? If yes to all of those then a complete new clutch assembly is going to be needed. Get a few quotes from your Peugeot dealer, your local independent Peugeot specialist, and a local clutch specialist. My guess is about £350 + VAT, but you won't know without getting quotes from people who know what they're doing.
