Random Lights

Post by DazModded206 »

Can anyone help? I've bought a 2003 206, the problem is that when I switch on the lights, some of the lights (o/s parking light, o/s tail light, heater cluster lights), keep coming on and off. I think it's because of a roof leak by the ariel, but not sure. Will I have to renew my loom? If so, roughly how much would it cost? Any help gratefully appreciated.

How old is the battery? Search this forum for the many instances of random electrical problems caused by old batteries.

Don't know age of battery, but it starts efficiently, convinced it's a loom fault though because previous keeper sold it me with a loose ariel, hence water coming in through cockpit light.

Well no not really, if it's a battery related issue the faults would occur to all the lights at one time. Only a few of my lights are affected, the rest work perfectly.

Ok then. A new loom will be very expensive, if you go secondhand then it has to be excactly the same as the old one, as Peugeots used a selection of different plugs and sockets for the various components.
You might want to read this thread to see the trials and tribulations of changing just the engine part of the loom. You would be changing the body loom as it's the lights that are affected and that would be a lot more involved.

If it was me, I would still check the battery first, but it's your car, your choice.
This is one of many post on the subject
Cheers Col.
