Re: please help someone - lots of electrical faults I think!
My partner found a broken switch that is connected to the boot catch. Could that be the root cause of this fault?
There are 2 metal contacts on the switch, and one of them is not lined up correctly. He's tried lining it up but it won't stay in place so think we are going to have to buy a new one. Is this a dealer only part does anyone know?

Entirely possible. Have a look in the Roof section for the locations of the microswitches. And have a look here: http://www.peugeot206cc.co.uk/viewtopic ... 12&t=14977 you may find it ends up being a very cheap fix.

Well that didn't work, or does it need a bsi reset before it will work?
I have read 2 different ways of doing a bsi reset - one says to press the lock button on the key for 10 seconds at the end , but your description of bsi reset does not mention this? So do I press the lock button on the key for ten seconds at the end or not?
I know that if this is done wrong I will cause more problems for myself?
Thanks again

Re: please help someone - lots of electrical faults I think!
The BSI reset shown on here has always worked for me. You shouldn't need to reset it for a roof issue.
I would really be careful. If you are going legal, you shouldn't touch anything as the dealer could say you have invalidated any warranty by causing, or making faults worse.
It's an easy *get out* for them.
The law is on your side, but that will change if you start messing around with it
If you have decided to bite the bullet and have a go anyway you could be in for a bit of pain & hurt. I don't wish to sound like I'm being patronising, but if you don't know what you are doing with these cars and haven't got the right diagnostics and experience to understand what diagnostics is telling you, you could end up making things worse or costing yourself more money. I would wait on the outcome from your letter before you dig yourself in too deep.
We will all try and help as much as possible of course.

Re: please help someone - lots of electrical faults I think!
Thanks, I appreciate what you're saying but if it can be repaired without a lot of cost then surely that's a better option for everyone. My partner found another broken microswitch in the boot near parcel shelf.
Went to local scrap yard and got one from there - it was joined with 2 others so came as a set of 3 switches. Anyway, my partner has replaced them without much trouble and guess what - the roof works, yippee.
We are still left with one problem though now - after roof closes the beeping continues! If we apply a bit of pressure to top of boot at passenger we can hear something lock into place and then the beeping stops. Same happens when roof goes up, and it's the same place that a small amount of pressure is needed and then beeping stops again. So it looks like it's not locking into place properly on passenger side. My partner says he's going to have a look at it tomorrow. Hopefully all it needs is a catch on passenger side now, if this can be replaced too. Cost so far - £30

There are two more micro switches in the windscreen columns ... one might not be correctly set.
Yes we probably all agree .. keeping another CC on the rad is better than seeing a scrap one ..
So have you given up the idea of Trading Standards, etc?

Sounds like the latch cables or latch need adjusting on that side.
Have you sorted the airbag light?

Not given up with trading standards. Going to ask dealer if he will do the right thing and cover cost of repairs.
And no capnol I haven't sorted the airbag light out yet. I'm told a bsi reset might rectify that. My partner is going to check the connections under the seats tomorrow I think.
How do you adjust the latch or latch cable on that side? Is it an easy job, or one to be left to the professionals?
Thanks,
Renee

I agree with Capncol's last post - probably a slight cable adjustment will get the latch operating properly.
You may just need a couple of 8 or 10mm spanners (sorry, can't remember the correct size).
If your partner can adjust the gears or brakes on a bike, then I'm sure he can't make the roof/boot any worse.
Hope a BSI reset sorts the airbag light.

A new cable was required in the above thread. Maybe too much stretch to be adjusted.

Watched this post with interest and glad your partner has the savvy to correct the faults others were trying to make money from.
My view is that you want to try to get the cost of the airbag repair covered by the dealer that sold the car, as this will become an issue at MOT time. At the same time, stress that you have had the other repairs carried out yourself - in order that you can use the car.

Re: please help someone - lots of electrical faults I think!
Thanks for all your interest and advice. My partner thinks that one of the "jumpers" is broken, as it is very loose compared to the one on the drivers side. Would this stop the boot from locking, and is that why very slight pressure in that area will lock it? If so what the hell can we do about that, as Peugeot have said that this tiny part cannot be purchased on its own but the complete unit will cost over £700!
It just looks like a horseshoe shaped piece of metal, you wouldn't think it would play such an important part in the roof operation.
And thanks too rf for your kind words of advice.
I have been astounded by the amount of people trying to help here - so lovely

The white clip? They are metal so hard to break. Are you sure it's not just dislodged?

It's very easy to move about and the other one is really stiff. It looks as though some kind of fastener or washer or something is missing behind it, looking at the other one

I think it keeps moving out of place, and then when we apply a slight pressure to that area we can hear it click and that's it locked into place then. It happens both when we put the roof down and put the roof back up
