Multiple problems with my 206 cc I need advice please
I have a black 206 cc Automatic 2003 model. It is a top of the range model with leather seats. It has shinier paint than a brand new car. It is very pretty. I love it very much. I have had so many problems with it in the past 12 months & spent thousands of dollars on repairs. First the air conditioning went I got that fixed. Then the wheels buckled I got that fixed. Then the engine mounts broke & the engine almost fell out onto the road I got that fixed. Then the electrics & computer died & the car actually was really broken I spent an absolute fortune & got that fixed. Then the indicators started to fail,When you turned on the indicators the lights switched on. I got that fixed. The other problems that I haven't fixed yet are. It's got coolant coming into the passenger side of the car it was saturated before I realised I needed to stop using the heating & air conditioning.I was told a heater hose was not fitted correctly when the air conditioner was replaced. The quote I have to fix it is $1350. The next problem is the drivers door doesn't lock anymore & the window doesn't line up which could stop the roof from opening. Im getting that fixed on Monday. The worst problem is,,, I have been told that the car has excessive amounts of oil leaking all through the engine from 2 pipes that are visible. I have also been told that there could be leaks all through the engine. This could possibly cost $2000 - $3000. The car 114.000 kms is it time to give up on it or will it ever be fixed. I really need advise before I spend more money on it. I'm very sad about this as I can't drive my precious car. It is still under a cover in the garage & Im driving a dirty old work ute. I really need advice on this as the Peugeot mechanics just keep taking my money & they tell Me nothing.

How much is a 12 year old car worth? When do you stop throwing good money after bad? Sounds to me as if the repairs will be as much as, if not more than, the value of the car. Time to let your head rule your heart perhaps.

Hi, in Australia the car is still worth $10,000. But I think Your right, maybe it's time to get rid of it. I could have purchased another car with the money I have spent on it. It's just hard to let go of it.

I did forget to say I was in Australia didn't I. In Aussie land these little cars are pretty rare. There is not many of them getting around. Their is lots of other Peugeots, but not many 206 cc,s. I get asked about it all the time & I've been offered $12,000 for my car. But I can't sell it to some poor unsuspecting person. Thank You so much for Your reply. I was a member of this club a few years ago but I forgot my user name & password so I'm not really a new member.

If the car is definitely worth $10-12,000 when fixed and will cost $3,000 max to fix, then if it is worth say up to $7,000 as it is now then it may be worth doing. How much has it cost you in total so far? Depends how deep your pockets are and how much hassle you're prepared to take.

Re: Multiple problems with my 206 cc I need advice please
Hi I have spent $5,700 so far. I think I'm almost done fixing it. Its the oil problems at the moment. The only reason Im not driving it at the moment is because I don't want to cause any damage. It actually runs like a dream it's really fast & smooth. I'm just a bit suspicious about the mechanics saying it has excessive amounts of oil leaking through the motor as I can't see it & there is no sign of oil loss. It's very bizarre. The door problem is my fault as the wind caught it at the petrol station & almost blew it off. I don't mind having to fix that. The roof still comes off perfectly & never leaks. The car is immaculate. I just wanted advise about this oil problem more than anything. My pockets are pretty deep when it comes to my precious " that's Her name lol" I just don't want to get ripped off. It is very expensive to maintain a 206 CC in Australia. Thanks for welcoming Me back. I miss having people to talk to when it comes to precious. Nice to meet You Happy Easter

Any chance you can post pics of the leaking pipes? That would help pin-point the problem and from there we might be able to offer advice.
I'd also run a few searches on Peugeot specialists/service companies in Aus as your current one might just be taking advantage ...

bertie has a 2 litre model just a year older than yours. Although he'll be joking it would be nice to think he could get $12,000 for it! That's over £6,000 sterling which is probably twice what the car would fetch in the UK.Venessa am wrote:Why are You thinking of shipping to Aus? Are You joking?
Am I right bertie?

Don't just believe the mechanics if there is no evidence of oil loss (e.g. falling oil level on the dipstick, lots of smoke out of the exhaust, puddles of oil under the car). Are you getting any warning signs up on the dashboard?
One thing I would ask is "has the timing belt ever been renewed?". On the 1.6 engine renewal is due every 100,000 miles or 10 years whichever comes soonest. If renewal is overlooked and the belt consequently snaps then it usually wrecks the engine.

Re: Multiple problems with my 206 cc I need advice please
Hi Gazza, I can't see the leaks, I've just been told they are there. I live in a small country town so I might need to go to Sydney to see a specialist thanks for the tip.
Thanks grandad I didn't think of the timing belt it's never been done. I will ask about that when I get the door lock fixed. Thanks for all the advice guys it's great. Their is no evidence of oil loss at all. Nothing You suggested is happening it's running great. No smoke no puddles on the garage floor nothing. I tried to upload a picture of it last night but I keep getting a message saying the file is too big. I had pictures on my last account but it seems to have changed. Thanks again

I forgot to add No Bertie don't send it to Australia they are too dam expensive to maintain & no one seems to know anything about them. But I know Your only joking. I wish I had a manual, heaven knows why I got an automatic. I wanted the car so badly & I had done for a long time so I just got the automatic because it was the first one I found that I could get from Sydney. It's gorgeous though. It has been very good to Me until recently. It's so nice cruising around the country side with the top down.

Re: Multiple problems with my 206 cc I need advice please
I just thought of something. The car is going to the mechanics early next week to get the drivers door lock fixed, would it be rude to ask the mechanic to show me where the leaking pipes are? Then I can get pics of it when I get home. I honestly can't see them the engine looks as pretty & clean as it always has. If they are being honest with Me they should be able to explain shouldn't they.? I think they think I'm rich,,but I'm not.

It would not be rude. You ARE the customer. You need the information on which to base any decision.
