New Member from Sunny Suffolk

Post by SmilieStu »

Greetings All,

Just picked up a very uncared for 206cc for my wife last Friday, so thought it would be a good option to join the forum from the very start of my journey, to share my experiences.

Although I'm not a mechanic, I have worked on a few cars over the years and like to use my problem-solving skills dabbling and fixing issues when and where I can. I have a few issues to resolve and will share resolutions with other members if that would help.

Thanks for reading and I hope that I can add value to the forum.

All the Best
Stu

P.S. Update: The car now looks eye-catching after spending a day detailing the exterior - Oh the shine! 8) Now for the inside......

Hope she enjoys it (as much as you do!)

What's the history? It's now 12 years old so if it hasn't have one, it needs a new timing belt and probably water pump regardless of the mileage!)

The history is very brief - No Docs. No Service History. No Security Code Card.

Was picked up as an insurance non-payout after n/s wing was bumped. No damage to the chassis and everything else is superb apart from the o/s wing is very slightly dented.

The wing was replaced and car M.O.T'.d so all fine. I couldn't see any evidence of damage anywhere (engine compartment or underneath) and it drives superbly. All this was reflected in the negotiated much cheaper price!

Due to this non-history, I agree that a timing belt/water pump change would be wise.

The roof works fine, apart from the "Opening Complete" tone, so I shall be sensor testing soon, there are a few things that need adjusting, a few missing bits and the centre air-vents need adjusting - one loose and the vertical vanes in the other mis-aligned, this is tonights' job :) No Rust.

The Wife is very happy with the car and it looks really nice. Just needs a good scrub and some ongoing care. I haven't got a garage so am dependent on the weather to do some work, but I may stick it down the local garage for a full service and belt/pump change to start off with. I will get the body work sorted out in the spring as this is just 100% cosmetic.
