peugeot 206 headache !!!

Post by charlie1 »

hi all, thanks for the addition. my daughter has a 206 1.4 petrol quicksilver 2004. she has an intermittent fault, where it will just completely die while driveing, its been dangerous to be honest, so much so i wont let her use it at the mo. sometimes she will go to it and it starts, others it wont.ive fitted a new crank sensor as thats what i was advised to do. ive cleaned earths, but still no different. i was thinking of replacing the ecu as a kit, with the ig switch/key/ecu /fuse box. there seems to be a few on ebay, but none with the same numbers as ours, are others compatible??? any help would be greatly appreciated,it is becoming a right pain.
thanks in advance . the number on her ecu is 9652275980

Had a sudden death on my daughters 206 recently - it was the earth connection at the engine. It looked ok at a glance, but was rotted through. Just a little nudge and it came away completely.

Worth a look!

Rather than guessing what the problem is and just changing random components it would be cheaper and easier to get a scan done of the car to see if it flags up any issues.

This can be done either at a main stealer or some members (including myself) have access to this kit and could do it for you.

I recently had an airbag problem on my wifes 206 and the computer reported a problem with the "Right Side Module ignition module open circuit". This simply meant cleaning the connector under to drivers seat and this fixed the problem.

My point is the symptoms/reports could suggest one thing and it is something completely different. If an intermittent fault has occurred in the past the ECU will record this and you'll see this information when a scan is done.
