Having just taken delivery of a 1.6l auto I am very happy overall. One small annoyance is the presence of a bracket above and between the accelerator and brake pedals, which I find my toe catching on when changing pedals. Has anyone else noticed this and found a solution? The bracket seems to not serve an essential role, at least not at its lowest end.

Moush,

I found that it was the steering column. I though there was a cover at first, but having inspected several 206cc, the absence of one seems to be correct.

You get use to it after a while. I've not had any problems now since the 'near misses' I had when I first got the car.

Happy adjusting!

I have not got big feet and found the same issue. As others have said, you seem to adapt foot position to take it into account. It seems to be PUG quirk as, given my problems, I have had the opportunity to drive a 306 and 106 and they are similar. In fact the pedals in the 106 are also very close together - useful for any one lgged (footed) drivers.

I agree with everyone - it's a pain at first and you adapt. A bit scary at first but then it just seems to disappear.
Cheers

GregS,

We are all driving Right-hand drive cars(guessing from location). I've not driven a left-hand drive car so I don't know if you get the same problem. And from what it sound like. You don't!
Don't worry about it, you're not missing much. Enjoy problem free motering.

Nope - i'm UK spec. RHD. Just a bit confused as to what this bracket prob is. You do have the aluminium drilled pedals don't you? Still :???:

I have had my 206CC SE for one week, and am starting to get used to the bracket - very scarey at first though, and I am only a shoe size 10!

Only experienced this on Vauxhall Nova's.

Remember Jeremy Clarkson test driving a car on Top Gear, (can't remember what it was), and he had this problem and commented:

'Haven't had that since I last drove' he paused - I guessed correctly! '...... a Nova'
