OK I understand now.
You never came back and said you had resolved it or not (which is good for other people with the same issues) so I didn't realise this was a different car.

Did you disconnect battery before removing fusebox? Using correct method?

The windows thing may be caused by a sticking microswitch in the windscreen pillar. If the roof ECU thinks the latches are open, it will not let you move the windows.

What I would do next is to remove all the connectors from the fusebox, spray all contacts with contact cleaner (not WD40), and try again.

If that does not help, I can suggest some more checks which require either a voltmeter or a 12V test lamp.

Hi Col, I never resolved roof problem and sold the car and bought this one, and yes I did disconnect the battery before I removed fuse box but I did not know there was a correct way to do it.

The roof and windows stopped working after I dropped the fuse box down to check all the fuses when I was fitting a new cd player so I thought I had maybe disturbed a wiring plug or something behind the fuse box causing the roof and windows to stop working as they were both working fine before I did that and that is the reason I took the fuse box out to look for any wires I may of pulled out and as it was out I replaced all the fuses with new ones fitted it back in the car reconnected the battery and tried to start it that's how I got to were I am now being I turn the key to start it and all I get is a click from fuse box and a high pitch noise that seems to be coming from throttle body or near there hope this sheds more light on things and I can get help to resolve the problem, Thanks again in advance.

Try a BSI reset and just recheck battery voltage.

Thinking about it, if you just get a click and a high pitched whine, you may have a defective starter.

I have done the bsi reset 5 or 6 times Col and nothing helps.

the click is coming from fuse box Ian not the starter .

When you had fusebox out, and I assume you mean one by your knee, could you have dislodged the plug on the back of the ign switch?

Hi Col yes it was the one by my knee I suppose I could of done but when I turn the ignition on it comes on and when I turn to start something happens as there is a click from fuse box but I will check it tomorrow I will try anything now to fix it as its been off the road 3 days and were I live u need your car.

A BIG Thank you to Ian and Col for all the help u gave me good news car is sorted now starts, and windows and roof all working again turned out to be bad earth on gearbox I took it off cleaned it up bolted it back nice and tight and now everything works
