Well for those of you that read my thread "wish I'd purchased an import" there have been some developments.

I've been offered £13,100 for my Pug (a 2.0 SE BLack with black an red leather bought Oct 2001 on a 51 plate) from my dealer when I contacted them again today. I suggested £14,000 on a sale or return basis but as they had lots of cars on the forecourt they didn't want to know.

The dealer said as I bought my Pug off of them they felt duty bound to make me an offer even thought they have cc stock.

Well what do you all think, should I take it?

I said I'd reply next morning.

Don't you have other dealers you could approach? I've seen plenty with little/no CC stock.

it's a tricky one robbie ........

£13100 isn't a lot but they are likely to retail it for around £14995 minimum so you are in reality paying their profit.

depending on how quick you want rid of it, might be an idea holding out on a private sale especially as it's a lot warmer the now and convertibles will be a little more popular.

also worth considering on a warm day at the weekend if possible to take it into nearest town somewhere and leave it in a prominent position with roof down / windows up with a few for sale signs on it. maybe a bit tacky but worth a try ?

good luck !

Yes Carl, I've tried a host of other Peugeot dealers but it seems all claim to be able to get CC stock and none wants to buy one second hand without a trade in.

Derek, its funny you should suggest the for sale sign, I explained to my dealer that I thought he would have no trouble selling my CC after the Brighton motorshow in two weeks time (where they will again be featuring the CC with its roof qualities), especially as that is where I saw their stand and bought mine.

The dealer claimed he knew what I was like and guessed I would be down there with a for sale sign on my car "as featured on the CC stand" I laughed because that is exactly what I planned to do. A sign outside the dealership is also a good idea if the area wasn't all yellow lined.

The real problem is the fact that I had not one single phone call after 2 weeks in AutoTrader where there are a host of CC's up for sale at around 13,500-13,995. I know the dealer will have that Pug up for £15,250 on the forecourt, but the alternative seems a very quiet private market out there at the moment in that price range, and each month lowers the price a little more.

Its a difficult call.

PS. At least I can put my wind stopper and sexy chrome boot rack up for sale seperately (i've put them in the for sale column).

Robbie.

Well thanks to all for the support and advice on this topic, sometimes its useful just to be able to tell someone what your predicament is, in order to come to a hard decision.

In the end I decided to sell my Pug back to the dealer this morning for £13,100 but kept my accessories. I needed some liquid cash to pay the remainder for the SLK as most of mine is on paper at the moment (there's a joke in there somewhere ;)) and as I bought some property this week time was running out before I pick the car up on 1st September.

Thanks again.

Robbie. :~)
