laptop update:

DON'T buy a Packard Bell laptop - they go sick in under 2 years and when they go in for repair Packard Bell don't seem keen to answer e-mails from repairers.

basically i don't know what's wrong with it but one result (of many) when trying to restore windows is that it tells you to contact Packard Bell Support - and when the repairer does, they get an automated reply telling them to check the manual - work that one out
