Hi,
Hope someone can help me please. When I take my Imported car in for it's first service, what do I need to take with me to the dealer to register my car on to Peugeot's database.
Many thanks in advance.

Hi Pauline,
I have yet to receive my Service and log books, but I do have an Invoice from Eurocar Consultants.
GMJones, Sorry to hear that, I nearly gave up on them too. I also like the look of the Civic TypeR, but I wanted another cabriolet. In the end you've still got a great car.
PS Is it an Import?

Hi,
Just 3 points on importing I thought I would share. My wife has owned a cc for exactly 3 days. Today the roof would not close so I took it into our local dealer.
1, I was told the car only has a 1 year warranty. I was told only certain countries in Europe get 2. Why and who are they ?
2, I was told the car warranty would start from its build date. In my case this was March 2002, therefore I have lost 6 months with only 14 miles on the clock.
3, They told me that it if the roof needed reseting, I would have to pay £35+ vat to reset. This is apparantly not covered under the warranty.
I beleive they were wrong on all 3 of the above. Can anyone please confirm this ?
I beleive that :
All import cars from Europe since Nov 2001 should have a 2 year warranty.
The warranty should start from registration, not date of build.
The roof not working should come under warranty.
The roof was fixed in 1 hour and I was told a microswitch was incorrectly placed.
I look forward to your views.

I did a bit of digging and according to the European Commissions explanatory brochure entitled "Distribution of Motor Vehicles", the guarantee period begins when a car leaves the manufacturer's network. Your importer should be able to tell you when they took delivery of the vehicle, which would be the date that the warranty commenced.
A copy of the legislation can be found at http://www.scidirect.co.uk/warranty.shtml (click on European law download)
According to the BBC website, all EU manufactured vehicles have a one year warranty - the franchise dealers in the UK then purchase and additional two years warranty.
I hope that helps!!

Many thanks for you help.
I have since spoken to my supplier in Belgium and they have backed up what I said.
I have then spoken to Peugeot UK who backed up my point of view. They told me they will be re-advising their dealers again.
Off the record, they told me the dealer was probably trying to pull a fast one.
