On Sunday night someone broke on my CC and stole my radio-cd and when I'll get my car from the dealer repaired, I'm going to buy an alarm system (I know, I'm very stupid I hadn't already had one). My problem is this: Peugeot sells a CC specific alarm system for 460 euros (290 pounds). I'd rather buy a better after-market alarm system, but I'm thinking about the problems of my 2-year guarantee (the car is 2 months old). Does it worth the risk? Have you tried an after-market alarm system that is very good (brand and model please) and works when the car is topless?
Thank you in advance...!
Peugeot alarm system. Does it worth?

Have heard some import companies source their cars for the UK market from other RHD markets eg Cyprus.
Import buyers beware!
Sure some insurance companies in the UK would use this as an excuse not to pay out in the event of a claim. They would assume a car was UK market spec and have an alarm and deadlocks.

If you can post something so I can decide what to do, then do it. Even your oppinion about the standard alarm-system which in some countries is standard. Don't be off topic please.
And for those who are curious:
CC 1.6 costs here 17790 euros, without ABS (1000e), alloy wheels (15" 600e, 16" 900e), sport-pack (200e), metallic color (300e), side airbags (300e), alarm-system (470e), radio-cd (300e), leather interior (1500e), windstopper (330e). CC 2.0 costs 24000 euros with everything as standard (16" alloys) except alarm-system, windstopper, metallic color and leather interior which are extras at the same price as 1.6.

Nasos,
Sorry, can't help you with your alarm.
However, prices demonstrate yet again that we are ripped off in the UK.
Basic price for a 1.6S is £14695. Taking your basic and adding on CD, alarm and ABS which come as standard, the price in Greece equates to £12500. Can't remember how much VAT is in Greece - Ours is 17½%.
One suggestion that might help. You live in Piraeus. Why not jump on GA Ferry to Kalymnos? No nasty people there that we have come across and we could meet you for a Mythos at the end of September!

and if we are to stay on topic then .......
i guess it would be logical to ask your dealer if fitting an after market alarm does affect your warranty.
if it does: fit the peugeot one
if it doesn't: get the spec of the peugeot one and then research the after market alarms that are available in your country (quite possibly different from the uk) and select the best one in your price range.
i trust this will help.

It doesn't affect the warranty - I bought an import and expected it to be without an alarm (but as it happens, it came with the usual Pug one) so I had a Clifford 500 fitted... Thoroughly recommend it, even though it costa packet:
auto locks-the-doors when you start the engine (so I can't lock my keys in it
), have to tap in a PIN (or it cuts the fuel if it's car-jacked), auto windows up, proximity sensors etc.
But it is embarrasing (ie LOUD) when I get it wrong...

VAT in Greece is 18% (included in the prices I mentioned). But keep in mind, that in Greece the average salary is lower than UK or other 'expensive' countries, although CC 1.6 is considered a cheap convertible in Greece. Mazda MX-5 1.6 costs about 25000 euros (16000 pounds). On 2002-08-31 16:08, Eye See wrote:

Thank you for the invitation at Kalymnos (I've never been there), but unfortunately my vacation time is over.
