Hi, just wondering if anyone else is suffering from squeaky brakes on the car? Its 3 weeks on the road now and for the last few days there has been a noise when braking.
First up, I would love to know why this happens if anybody is in the know about stuff like this....
Secondly, does it need attention from the dealer or will it resolve if it is due to weather?
Thanks,
Matt

I have squeaky breaks too! I also have a squeaky clutch pedal!
Maybe there are some mice nesting in my CC?

my brakes squeak a bit too but mainly when it is wet but not all the time. might mention it to my dealer when i hand my CC back tomorrow for another holiday to cure the water fountain. looks like they will have it for over another week as the 2nd seal isn't due in until 6/2/02.
better been in a dry garage rather getting soaked everyday.
and incase anyone was wondering, i only got it on 6/12/01 and the dealer has already had it for 13 days.
derek

it's not that bad bergen, it would be worse if it was summer when i could get some proper use out of it.
i look on the bright side, i do 400 miles a week normally so every day in the garage means less miles on the clock

My car has done over 8000 miles now and still has squeaky brakes occasionally!
So I suppose the answer to that is no!

I tried to do some careful hard braking to see if it was anything to do with dust. But, even braking like this didn't manage to rid any dust so it may be an alignment problem. Slightly more serious as it can damage the discs.
Gonna have it checked out as soon as I have time. Cant wait for my 6000 check up.

Mines 6 months old and done about 3500 miles and have only recently noticed the occasional squeaking.
Its not highly annoying yet so my solution is to crank up the stereo.

My car is coming up to a year old now and the brakes started squeaking very ealy on. In fact this started in the first couple of months.
I have now taken my heap of crap margarine tub in to the dealers now 7 times in the last year for various problems.
The first time i went in I also mentioned the breaks and they said they would look at them.
Again same on the second visit and third.
I was then told that it was due to new materials used on the brake bads.
Apparently in the past brake pads were made of asbestos but now they are made of new materials which cause squeaking. You minimise this squeaking by cleaning them So every time I take the car in I ask them to cleans the brakes.
they should have named this car a skoda cc. (although I believe skoda have got their act together!!!!) we should all start making jokes about peugeots.......
It says in the manual service every 2 years yet I've been back in 7 times now!!!!!!!!!!!!
What I would be very interested in is wether different break pads still exist and so when the need changing which sort of pads i should use???
Does any one have any answers??????????

I took my car to the garage with the same problem. They told me that they had cleaned and dressed the brakes and callipers. The car hasn't made a sound since so fingers crossed it stays that way. I got this repair carried out under warranty as I refused to pay for it...good way of getting a freebie if all else fails is to exaggerate...e.g tell them you're brakes were very unresponsive when you had to apply the break in an emergency stop and the car is not roadworthy...it worked for me!!
