Thanks for the letter Derek, can't believe the way your dealership have treated you. I deal with one Peugeot dealership through work, last time I was there I was chatting to the used car sales manager about his sales team. He told me that Peugeot take customer care very seriously  If anyone complained to them about a member of the sales force, action would be taken immediately. I'll be interested to see if the same goes for the service department. Keep an eye out for personnel changes at the dealership!

Hope you have success with the letters, let me know how it goes.

rachel,

there may well be personnel changes at the service dept but it could be because they are dead and need replaced

as far as the letter goes, there better be some action by both the dealer and peugeot. i have a good idea that arnold clark will be very embarrassed after my overall comments on the service dept of the garage. they are scotlands largest dealer by far and won't be wanting the bad publicity that i will be more than happy to give them if they do not solve my problems.

i will let you know the outcome

derek

Well for those of you who wondered what happened in the end, here is the result. Peugeot are ordering me a brand new 206cc SE which should be here at the end of March. They are also paying for a new Tracker to be fitted to my vehicle and paying for the years subscription. They have supplied me with a 406 for the past month and it will remain with me until mine is delivered. They have not charged me anything for my other car, mileage etc. If only they had got it right first time!

I dont feel so bad only paying a couple of hundred to swap mine as I have had it 12 months and done approx 10,000 miles and I am having all the extra paintwork included in the price etc

Also I have had the pleasure of giving it a good thrashing knowing I am not keeping it

just like to congartulate you on sticking to your guns and not beeing palmed off. Hope your new CC is up to standard and your dealership don't end up resenting you and being unwilling to help you.

NS,

just interested. mines has done 2700 miles and it won't be going much higher if there is a need to reject after they "try" to repair it.

I think the arrangements to order/buy a car differs from country to country. In Greece we have to pay 2054.29 € just to order the car!!
So car rejection option is forbidden, I was told that there's no money back. Haven't heard of any replacement in Greece so far. I wish there is or to be soon. I don't know what in UK or elsewhere happens but the things here are bad.
I LOVE to be OUTSIDER!

rachel / NS,

slight update .......

as the after sales manager hadnt phoned me on wednesday when the seals were due in like he promised, i phoned the dealer to find out what was going on.

he wasn't in and the other person who has some knowledge was at luch etc..

the person i spoke to said he would find out, but 2 hours later there was no message on my answer phone so i called again and got someone else who was able to tell me my car was booked in for 11/2/02. talk about being like a mushroom (kept in the dark) but instead of shouting at him i just told him i would be there at 4pm to find out what was going on (i was at a course a few minutes from the dealer at the office).

when i got there i was told the seals hadn't arrived and they havent been told when they will arrive.

i told him that, as the after sales manager knows, i will reject the car if it isn't properly repaired - then i told him if i can't get confirmed details on when the parts are due then i won't wait and i will reject the car immediately - he will phone and find out on monday and let me know.

Well things have changed yet again, I went to clear my car out on Sat which I was told was being stored at a dealership undercover to keep it safe. After all I still legally own that car until my new one arrives, I turned up to find out it was not only being used as a demonstrator, but was being used as an every day car by one of the salesmen. Within 5 days it had over 500 miles on the clock. And then plan to sell it to some poor unsuspecting person, knowing it leaks. As you can imagine I am none to pleased and as a result they are now giving me the full cost of the car back. I have told them to stuff the new car and I have ordered a Golf GTI which is a better drive and at least is more reliable. There is no point having another 206cc when the chances of it happening again are high, the dealership servicing is the worst I have ever seen and the customer service is extremely poor. So I am sitting waiting for my cheque.

Jeez, talk about the dealership pushing their luck. The car's problem with leaking is very well known of in the car trade (not just Peugeot). Everyone I mention my car to asks if it leaks! I guess Peugeot aren't too fussed though while the orders are still piling in. I think that's the reason why they're not advertising it, they don't need to, rather than the problems with leaks. Good on you, shame you'll miss out on the cc's good points though.
