If any of you have children who are constantly asking " How do you do this daddy? " or " why does that happen mummy " then you'll hopefully be a tad symathetic as I ask yet another question  I can't help it. I just want to know everything! I'll calm down....soon...no really I will!!

One of the things I am currently finding is that it is difficult to minimise annoying rattles at the back of my car. I have what I consider to be essential safety tools in the boot - extinguisher ( for trips across the channel), warning triangle, petrol can, portable hazard warning light, torch, first aid kit, hard hat, safety shoes... < c'mon now - stop laughing. I'm a health and safety adviser so what do you expect!! >

In my old car < Ford Escort - sorry for the rude language > I could pack things in without worrying about the height. I'm finding it difficult do that with this jewel of a car. I know the obvious answer is 'DON'T CARRY SO MUCH'. Still, there must be a way to minimise the annoying rattles.

I've tried putting things in a plastic box/crate in the back, but this only helps to a certain extent. I've also tried cushioning the items with a car rug. Again it helps but it's not the perfection I am seeking.

Any ideas? It doesn't affect the car's performance, but rattling like an old tin can everytime I hit a dip, pothole, or speed ramp, tends to ruin what little street cred I have. :x

BOOT TRAY - (part no 9664HS £50.00)
these are useful if you worry about getting dirt on the carpet in the boot. I.e. dirty shoes or spilled milk when shopping etc as it is plastic and you can take it out and hose it off. Doesnt really stop rattles

ORDERLY - (part no 97071X £13.00)
these are like a long flexible sausage with velcro on the bottom. This bends round things to stop them sliding (cant be used in conjunction with BOOT TRAY)

CARGO NET - (part no 965728 £13.00)

holds things in place by clipping to the 4 hooks in the boot.

ALTERNATIVE (from all good DIY stores)
get some velcro tape and stick it to things, then just stick to carpet in the boot.

I hope this is enough ino to keep you going for now :)
