Hi all,

After 16 years driving I have had my first puncture!!!! In my 7 day old 206cc.

I repaired the puncture with the provided tyre weld, even though it is all in French. It seems to be staying up but how long / fast can you drive on this struff?? Do you have to get the original puncture fixed?? Can they fix it once you have used this stuff, which looks pretty goey.

Also, have checked out tyre prices in case I need one, is £85 resonable for a Goodyear Eagle??

Sorry so many questions...... please advise

Marcus

hi there, go to the problems section, (others i think) there's been a lot going on about this spray thing...... some ppl found they can not repair the car after they sprayed it..... thats why I insisted to have a spare wheel (in the boot!) when I bought the car..... just to be on the safe side....

I would (as well as others) advise not to use the tyre weld as it is for ABSOLUTE emergencies only and they don't make it clear! (Bit late now though!)
The tyre is now un-useable (except to get home!) and un-repairable now you have used the tyre weld on it.
The price you got for the Eagle F1 is very good - I got similar (but cheaper price) for my tyres.

Thanks for the quick response.

I am real pis*ed off that it is not made blatantly clear by Peugeot that using their supplied repairer renders your tyre irrepairable. I shall be writing along similar lines to the template letter to try and get my money back. What do you rate my chances at??

Does anyone carry a spare wheel? Are these tyres more prone to punctures as it is the only puncture I have ever had.

Its not actually IRREPAIRABLE

just most places will claim that to you so they make you shell out for a new tyre. I was told be a reliable source that the tyre can be fixed after using the tyre weld, but most places wont go thru the hassle.

on a can of normal tyre weld (not peugeot) it states that the tyre can be repaired but a garage may charge more as more care is required in dealing with the chemicals of tyre weld.

As Derek said they can be repaired, if you can find a garage willing to do it for you. I had a puncture earlier in the year, the garage flushed out the tyre (does that stuff smell, or what  ) repaired the puncture and only charged me £12.00. The tyre is still going strong. Don't be conned.

Ooops sorry if I mis-informed you.
I was told by several people that the tyre was un-useable once the tyre weld stuff had been used.

Sorry!
