Handbooks arrived

Many many thanks guys for the handbooks. Two arrived in the post this morning and between them I think I have all the information I need to interpret all dem flashing lights and beeps in my car. ( Just have to figure our what RDS is now

....it's in there somewhere. )

Ahhh, just found out what RDS is! Page 48 of the manual. Yee ha!

And I have a CD changer in my car too! So that's what that is!

Ok getting down to some serious studying now. I am still going to ride Virgin about sending me my manual in English though. They 'aint getting off the hook that easily!

Ok so I am reading through my manuals - thanks guys

the current consumption
the average speed

My question is...

WHY?

Is there anyone out there that really takes any notice of this? ( As you can tell, it wasn't one of the features that sold the car to me

)

Just wondering what practical application this information could possibly have.

but...what benefit is there in knowing that you are driving at an average speed of 50 mph, irrespective of how many miles you do PA?

The average and current consumption are somewhat academic also, surely. Once you have the car, you have the car and your stuck with whatever the consumption rate is.

Lady M,

Being able to watch the 'current mpg' dive as you hit the gas can be very addictive. I keep catching myself switching to it when I'm on a run and flooring the pedal just to watch it sink

Another fun game is to see how low you can keep the average. My best is 17Mpg over 50 Miles, but that was all short runs. On a decent journey you have to work hard to stay below 20

It sure beats waiting for the next palindrome on the odometer (003300 will be my next!)

average speed is nothing special i admit but the consumption figures i find useful - you may be stuck with the car (unless you buy a different one) but the way you drive affects the average mpg - that you can change easily

The bulk of my 400 weekly miles are spent on the Motorway and I once got 45.3 mpg that figure betters the Average on my 306 D-turbo

Go on you can do it, just press down with that right foot, that's it, feel the power, hear that (somewhat muted) roar, watch the world shift into reverse, now hold it there, let the tacho hit 6000, OK now up into third and repeat - go -on you'll love it

If your mpg is in single figures I suspect you won't be going fast enough to need an anorak

Actually I have to admit that I have found myself checking my own mpg :x

Somebody stop me!
