Hmm, it was kind of touched on in another post I put up. Anyhow, to get the manifold off, do you have to remove any of the cooling system pipes ? After a second (independant) opinion, it seems as though you may need to remove a pipe connected to the header tank to get the exhaust manifold off. I would like the official peugeot line here, i.e. what the instructions for getting the manifold off, say. This is due to my recent cooling system problems, whereby the coolant 'disappeared' - no leak, noone draining the system.

The garage swaped the exhaust manifold as part of some warranty work that was being done (apparently a fairly common fault being a split weld on the manifold - I found info on this site, the garage could find nothing wrong despite the symptoms I was experiencing, but swapped it out anyway !) Shortly afterwards, all my coolant disappears and I end up with a hot-and-bothered engine, since coolant has been replaced, not leak, no 'disappearing coolant'...which leads me to believe someone drained it Â¿ After my second opinion I would like to go back to the garage with something, it looks like you might need to remove one of the coolant system pipes to get the manifold off.

Ok Stuart now I understand. You want some ammunition to shoot them with.

This is what I would do. I would ring another Peugeot dealer quite a few miles away. I would ask them for advice. I would tell them that I had some work done at an independant garage whilst in France whilst on holiday. Explain what has happened. Dont say you claimed on warranty. Just say you need to know if this is what caused your problem or is your engine about to expire. Tell them how grateful you would be for their advice and that you will switch to them in future in return for the help.

Obviously you wont go there, but they will see you as a guilable customer who they could make easy money out of the future, so I am sure they will be happy to help. SUCKERS.
