Does anyone know any safe way to take off the interior light cover to change bulb? Just ply it off with a flat screw drive?

I suggest that you don't use a hammer!
Why has your bulb gone?
Maybe pop into your local car accessories place and have a look at the 206 DIY manual... I'm sure the light fitting has got to be the same!

a thin flat bladed screw driver from the side of the clear bit should allow you to drop it down to replace the bulb
I prefer to use the screwdriver from the right hand side (dont thinkit makes a difference)

Thanks for your suggestions and I'll give it a try, just like to replace the bulb with a brighter one.
