Its official. I have given up on the idea of changing the original head unit - it seems to be too fraught with problems ! (sorry if thats a bit defeatist)
Anyway, I was hoping to retain the original head unit in my 206cc - it is a clarion rd3 I believe.... the car is only a week old so it is the most up-to-date spec I hope.
I was rather optimistically assuming that I could buy the compatible CD changer unit and fit it relatively easily... it seems I am wrong ?
I spoke to the Peugeot dealer, and they tell me that the only one I can get is the official Peugeot one that costs an amazingly expensive £299 - apparently the 'off the shelf' clarion units do not have the same connector as the custom one they have installed in the 26c (to make you buy the official changer unit, no doubt !)
I have looked at numerous websites, and all the tantalising clarion cd changer units say that they are not compatible with the RD3 head unit.
So my questions are ...
1/ Can I buy a compatible CD changer off the shelf ? or even one with an adapter that will work with my RD3 head unit ? - or am I indeed stuck with paying Peugeot twice the shelf price of the unit ?
2/ I hear that on the newer 206ccs, the changer cable is already included and thoughtfully placed in the car to just plug and play.... is this true ?
Standard Clarion CD Changer ?

Nope stacker control cable on a market stacker doesnt fit straight on to the CC factory head unit, not even a clarion stacker fit :x (i got one from cash converter and the cable is one of those thick one with square on each end as oppose to round one in sony. at the back of the RD3 unit its has one of those large rectangular ISO thingy
). Need conerter - depend on which stacker you use. So far ive done lots of searching and havent found anyone in AU sell the converter/adapter.

I did get the official Peugeot Clarion 6 stacker with my CC. It works like a treat and it's good having the flexibility of playing a single CD inside the car, or the six you've got loaded in the stacker.
Considering the RRP here (about $950), I got a good deal on it (as I did with the whole car) for about $800 (289 pounds). Yes that is expensive for a stacker, but I thought what the hell. I'd be paying $500 for an after market stacker plus $200 for an adapter with shipping plus $100 for installation - so it's probably about the same.
And it's brilliant having it integrated with the stalk and the display panel too!!! I'm glad I paid the money.

agree with matt there, i got quoted from connect2.uk - 50p for coverter to sony stacker + 25p delivery = 75p which is about 230AU$. Ok so if you got a sony stacker laying arround great! if not depend on which model, it might end up costing more.
