Hi all !

I would like to know if there is a special accessory that connects to the back of my radio-cd (it is a Clarion RD3 factory installed unit) and offers auxiliary input (RCA or jack plug). I need this to connect my external mp3 player in the car. Any help via email or icq message would be very much appreciated !!

actually if it's the default 2002 headunit like mine then yes you can, there are two phono sockets at the back of the player meant for the line in for a cd changer, use can use these but you need to fool the player in to thinking that the headunit has a cd changer installed so that you can swap the source over. this can be accomplished by use of a small resistor placed correctly in the cd-in> jack.

I will get some photos tonight.

I have found this in a french group:

http://translate.google.com/translate?u ... uage_tools

I don't know if it helps.

If any one knows the resistor value, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I'd love to get my portable MD working with the standard headunit (RD3). I would not only make my day it would make my month ;)

Juan,

Is there any chance you could get some photos of the back of it?

Or alternatively would you be intersted in selling the RD3 unit if you aren't using it anymore?

Saw the french site...

If I have understood well, from the pinout picture, you
connect Left signal to Pin 19, Right signal to Pin 20 and
Ground to Pin 18. Am I right ?

My question is HOW you fool the player to recognize the
non-existing changer. Somebody said that you have to
short circuit two other pins with a resistor. Which two pins
and what resistor value ??

If somebody can answer or mail me I would be really
grateful !!!

Thanks :D

Hi all!
I would be very happy to hear if somebody have the solution for "fool" the cd-changer input on the Clarion RD3, I also heard about the resistor on 2 pins, but I don't know what value and on what pins.
Cheers
Chris

It seems that the answer is to put a resistor between pins
15 (CDChanger ground) and 16 (CDChanger + permanent)
so that a current flow is simulated. I read in a french site that
the resistance of the CD changed unit is 60 Ohms.

I have not tested the whole thing yet, because I am not
an electronics expert and I don't want to do something wrong.

Is anyone on this forum who really KNOWS about these things
or had tried something ? Please let the world know !!!!

Thanks!

Vassilis
