All,

Seeing as I'm a little piddled due to my car not arriving for another few weeks (when it was due on March 1st), I was just wondering what kind of waiting times the people in this forum have had for their CC's, to see if it possible for somebody to have been worse off than me

Cheers,

Marco

The South African waiting lists are currently measured in years not months

I ordered mine at the beginning of October last year (before the first model was even in the country) and I've only just been given a "rough" delivery date of May/June 2002 this year. People who ordered after me (once the car started being seen on the road) are looking to 2003 for delivery. Although I believe this is for the 2.0 litre model, the waiting list for the 1.6 has all but fallen away.

Hope it makes you feel better ...

Like Scott, here in Australia it's been a long wait. I placed my order 17 months before I got mine almost 2 weeks ago. There were many delays in getting the car released in Australia. I placed my order when I knew they were available in Europe. Current wait on a 2.0 is 4-6 months from order and shorter for the 1.6 auto. Waiting times can vary significantly, longer if you require a particular colour and trim.

Cheers

In the UK. I ordered it on election day last year (can't remember the date) and took delivery on 31st October.

20 weeks 6 days.

Vince.

(I ordered a 1/43rd scale model a few weeks ago but it doesn't look like I'll get it in 1/43rd of the time ;) .)

Put my deposit down 2 weeks ago - latest estimate for delivery is "late July".

Put my deposit down in October with Mr Bransons company and was expecting delivery in 5 weeks time (Early May).
Chased them up 3 weeks ago since I hadn't heard anything and was told there'd been a delay - now expected November!
So what was a 28 week delivery is now expected to be at least 64!!!

Have told them to come back with a more reasonable offer this afternoon before I take more severe action!

I would have serious words - they are still quoting 22 weeks from order. Even if you placed a brand new order right now you'd still be looking at late August - where do the other 2-3 months come from?

On another note, I ordered mine in Feb & am expecting the car "late July". I've already registered my displeasure at the fact it took them 4 weeks to confirm my order AFTER they'd had my deposit.

I had to chase them for the order confirmation as well!
They called yesterday to offer me a lower spec model available in 4 weeks at a higher price!
Got hubbie on the case today - he's off on garden leave at the moment so has plenty of time to chase them up! - he called and gave the order number and they couldn't even find it on the system! He told them the "offer" is an insult and if they don't get back with a better deal this afternoon, then the problem is going higher. His mother works in a solicitors and is compiling a letter to them based on the breach of "spirit of the contract"
I'd advise you to check on progress with Virgin! Hope you get better luck!

Guess this isn't a good time to mention that I got mine within two weeks of ordering it?!

Mention away. I'm saving £3k and it's giving me those few months to actually save up. Otherwise, I'd have been waiting until next year to even order it ;)

saving £3k is all very well but as expensive as it may be i'm more than happy to pay it and have the security of the dealer when things go wrong. if i had imported as i had considered i guarantee you that i would be currently driving a 1st class lemon and not a new car.

derek
