Just read this whole thread because, yes you guessed, my brakes have been squealing for the last few hunbdred miles (now at 5300).

Took the CC into Castles of Stoneygate and they told me that new pads would be in stock within two weeks and that they'd fit them FOC under warranty.

Hope this fixes the problem

Hiya Moonstone, whereabouts in Leicester are you?

My dealer tells me that the service department have had a letter about this and that certain braking systems will be sorted out so will let you know tomorrow when I go in to the Dealers and speak to the Service Manager or should I say :Service Monkeywhat this exactly means, it also sounds like they want to sot it once and for all.

I have just had the new modified brake pads fitted and am currently squeak-free!!! :D

However I'll reserve judgement as my original brakes didn't start squeaking till a few months after I picked up the car.....

My previous pads were the 'Citroen' pads.

Haven't bitched about my brakes yet so thought it's about time I did!

They started squeaking at about 6k (just out of brake warranty.. typical!) and are still going at 10k. However, they aren't as bad as some peoples by the sounds of things.

I called the dealership I bought my car from today. They said that Pug will pay for one brake clean under warranty. Also the replacement pads are only replaced under normal warranty if the existing pads are of a certain type - to see if my brakes are the "faulty" ones I had to book my car in - for Sat 14th!!

So I went round to a Pug dealership near where I work. They said:

1. The new pads can only be fitted nuder warranty if the car is under 6 months & has less than 6000 miles on the clock
2. Some CCs had a certain type of calliper that enhanced the squeak. Replacing the calliper (under normal warramnty) in some cases has cured the squeak. My car is going in tomorrow morning to see if I have these callipers.

They quoted about 80 quid for the new pads being fitted anyway. I'll see how things go tomorrow.

I wish Peugeot would just ste in stone what's going on here rather than each dealershpi saying a different thing!

Just got my 6 month service and the anti squeak breaks fitted. So far no sqeaking. :) The clunking has gone also.

Has anyone found the new breaks a little less reponsive than the old ones, requiring a bit more pedal pushing

Had new-style pads fitted one week ago and the squeak & clunks have gone completely. Brakes weren't as effective to begin with but they seem to have settled in. It'll take a while before I will unthinkingly brake without expecting the noise. :?

Tim Brinton in Cambridge did the replacement under warranty without my having to ask, at 15 months old and 7800 miles :P

Hi Guys

I have just been reading up on your brake probs. Had my cc for a few weeks now & thought my squeeky brakes were an added extra!!
After reading that it is a common fault I have E-mailed my local dealer.
I wont hold my breath though!!
Will let you know how it goes.

Luv LucyH

Story is:-
1. Bought car 2.0SE in Oct 02
2. Brakes started squealing after couple of months ( 3000 miles).
3. Car went in for 6,000 mile (6 months) service in April.
4. Dealer said no new pads available. Can only resurface pads and would only do this once under warranty. Told him code 4252.76 for possible new pads - he said Peugeot had a block on this code. Apparently, at that time, Peugeot didn't have enough of the new pads for new cars, let alone for spares.
5. They resurfaced pads - when driving off the forecourt with the dealers Workshop Controller (to identify roof rattles) the brakes squealed right on cue. He was devasted, and I made him write on the paperwork that they would look at the brakes again.
6. A month or so later when it was in for another problem, they said the new pads were now available, and would be ordered. I asked them if they were under warranty, they said Yes.
7. The dealer - Charters of Camberley - fitted the new pads yesterday.

Peugeot obviously will only fit new pads if you make a big fuss. Tell them a car with squeaky brakes tells you it hasn't been maintained properly.
Rain or shine - topless is fine!!

Update: - After waiting weeks (since May) and calling about once a month to chase, my local dealer (Castles of Stoneygate) finally got a set of pads in stock and fitted them last week.

No squeaks (at least up to now) and no hint of trying to charge me anything. My only complaint is how long it took to get the pads, but then from the sound of things they are in short supply!

BTW my CC is 14 months old and has done 6500 miles. (6400 last week!)

Spoke to dealer about my squeaky brakes saturday - they have the new pads in stock but only replace them up to ^000 miles or 6 months

Hmmm, 13500 miles and 11 months into cc ownership and me thinks me is outta that range

Monday lunchtime - phone pug head office, say i want free new pads front and rear. They start to say know so i start listing ages and mileages with location for people who have posted on here and had them fitted free.

Pads will be fitted Friday :D

Dealer phoned to confirm - was really nice & explained that they are happy to fit the pads under warantee but that Pug HO have to authorise any out of the 6k/6month limit

Dare i say it? Canterbury motor company are regaining my confidence every time i go in there?!?!?!?!? :D
