the stalk and display adapter if you want to use the existing stalk and display, if not you can put in any head unit, it just a matter of wiring it to existing speaker wires and power wires. MattB got a nice instructions to get power from the engine bay on the sticky topic :)

Did someone say my name?! ;)

You can buy any standard headunit and it will fit in the car, however the existing control stalk won't control the headunit and the headunit won't control the display on the dashboard like the standard headunit.

You can get converters for some manufacturers (Sony only I think) which will allow you to use the existing display & stalk with the new headunit.

As for amplified sub, it really depends on what you want. I built my own box and mounted a seperate amplifier in the boot. Or you can buy active subs where the speaker & amplifier are combined into one unit. Maybe worth asking other people in here what they recommend and whree they got it from.

My sub cost about 240 quid overall - £100 for the Kenwood speaker, £100 for the amp and £40 for the wood, materials, wiring etc to get it running.

The Sony adapter will only work with Sony headunits. More info here: http://www.connects2.co.uk/

Some people in here have them fitted - anyone reading this who has one?

Yepper i got the adapter from connect2 and Sony cdx mp80, everything work as original with 1 minor thing - if you have a head unit with mp3 playback (like mine) track number wont display correctly (NB: only display problem on all function work fine)

So the little spinny button thing changes radio stations still? Does it still bring up a list on the display?

yes, on radio mode the little spin thingy on the stalk will cycle through the station memory but it doesnt show six menu, just the one that is playing and one at a time.
