Just bought one of the above for £6.40. made by maystar.
Basically two speaker wires (to come from head unit), with a small shrink wrapped style thing to change signal level along the wire and there's two RCA leads on the end.
Not picked it up yet but if it works then couldn't be easier to use an amp that only has RCA inputs on it.
Just though i'd let you know...

would that mean you can use the standard h/u to power an amp system?
If so im sure the quality of it would be degraded by the voltage conversion, I remember my mate had one of those for a while and i noticed the sould wasnt so detailed and the bass slightly muffled, needless to say he soon got a refund.
It was several years ago so perhaps these things improve.
let us know how it sounds.

Well i'm currently using an amp(With standard HU) with speaker line inputs but i have a better Alpine amp with loads of adjustments, gain, crossover etc etc and it's more powerful as well.
The better amp just has RCA inputs.
You may be right about it sapping power but maybe the extra adjustments might mean an improvement over the smaller amp.
Should pick it up tomorrow after work so i shall see what happens and i will let you know.

I just connected my Magnat 4-channel amp with the original HU... Sorry to say that I got some quite noticable disturbance noise.... So i´m gonna switch back to my Panasonic Headunit with twin RCA outputs as soon as possible. The reason I switched to the original HU was to use the "remote" at the steering wheel.... guess I´ll have to do without it... good sound quality is more important.
