The brakes do still work when the engine cuts out but you have to press the pedal much harder! And also the power steering goes too so it takes more effort to steer!

And if you dump the clutch, you can restart it on the go - it's only happened to me a couple of times, then they upgraded the software and it went away (oh no, famous last words!!!!!)
