Hi all, not long had my 206 CC, its 15 months old, 2.0 SE, was wondering about the old steering set up - steering wheel isn't dead straight when I'm on a straight road, sits slightly to the right. Is this usual? Tracking has been checked and they say its OK so is it likely to be something else or do I just live with it? Someone mentioned camber and caster settings....thats lost me......and the manual is useless!! Any experiences or advice gratefully received!!

Funny you should say that as mine went in for it's 40k (yes you heard me right) check up - as far as I can recall the geometry was spot on - straight steering wheel means stright line progress - however on it's return to me I notice the geometry is slightly out straight is now slightly off to right - tracking OK when checked by tyre company today. Maybe they jacked it up wrong?

Hi folks - unscrewing the bolt in a steering column sounds like a fab solution but I suspect the Pug folk will rattle on about camber and alignment and so on...the risk is do you let them have a fiddle and risk 6 million other problems being created by them or just drive off centre?!! Yep, I may be new to the 206 CC but not to the technicians curse....Don't understand enough to know why tracking would be OK but wheel not straight. Thats why I don't build 'em. Ben - 40K - impressive!

Why don't you just adjust each of the track rod ends to bring the steering wheel back to a central postion..
Mind you if the car was in for a service and you got it back and the steering wheel was misaligned then i would be asking why it had not been advised/corrected at that service. Even though it is not on the service schedule.
So if:
1: The steering wheel is slightly to the right then the Nearside trackrod end should be adjusted to give a little more toe in.. and the Offside trackrod should be adjusted to give a little toe out
2: If the wheel is to the left then the opposite will apply..
Note: All that having the Tracking adjusted/checked does is to make sure the wheels have the correct toe in/out.. Nothing else..
The only mechanical way of ensuring that the steering Wheel is straight, is to have full 4 wheel laser alignment done.. However it is a waste of money as there are no adjustments that can be made to the suspension settings, apart from toe in/out..
